|Christmas Day for those Alone 25 November, 2013|
The Parish Council have been advised by the local Beat Officer of a scheme running in Markfield for the last 8 years which organises Christmas day dinner for those on their own on what for some is a very lonely day. This takes place in St Marys Church rooms in Anstey but transport can be arranged for persons from the surrounding villages. The organisers of the scheme would like as many people to know about this as possible.
It’s a lovely day and people come back year after year and last year they catered for 80 people! There is a full 5 course dinner with all the trimmings, drinks (alcoholic and non!), a present for everyone and a massive goody bag stuffed full of essential foods as well as some treats!
The organisers have requested that if you know of any local shops etc… that would donate anything – in particular tins of chocolate biscuits for presents or toiletries, drinks, chocolates, sweets for treats or anything for the goody bags – or something for bingo prizes.
