Borough Council celebrating 50-year anniversary with event at Hollcroft Park 

 

 

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council will be hosting a one-off dedicated ‘birthday celebration’ on Saturday 25 May at Hollycroft Park, 12 noon until 8pm to commemorate its 50th anniversary.  

  

The Local Government Act of 1972 came into force in April 1974, which saw creation of the authority that is now celebrating its half-century.   

The event will feature music, food and fun for the whole family. The programme is as follows:  

  • 12 noon – Welcome by Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth, Cllr Robin Webber-Jones, Council Leader Cllr Stuart Bray and Fosse 107 
  • 12:15pm - Treacle Town 
  • 2.00pm - Crush (NWSLC) 
  • 2:30pm - Hot n Heavy (NWSLC) 
  • 3:30pm - Dorothy Goodman School 
  • 3:55pm - Grays Drama Academy 
  • 4:25pm - Rainbow Singers 
  • 5:30pm - Velvet Thunder 
  • 7.00pm - Steve Faulkner  

 

Whilst everyone is welcome to bring a picnic there will be food and refreshments to purchase. Vendors include:  

•         Fodder and Chisit 

•         Annie's Bakes and Cakes  

•         Black Apron Hog Roast 

•         Event Crepes  

•         Really Awesome Coffee 

•         Yesterware Sweets 

•         Horse and Crown Bar 

Other activities community stalls and children’s activities, these include: 

•         Hinckley Pride 

•         Leicestershire Police 

•         Hinckley & District Museum 

•         Community Pet Food Bank 

•         Friends of Hollycroft Park 

•         Hinckley Fixers  

•         Circus skills workshop 

•         Crafts by Community Housing 

Well behaved dogs are welcome but must always remain on a lead. Owners are asked to ensure they clean up after them. 

  Council Leader, Cllr Stuart Bray said: “This year is a special one for Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, as we celebrate the council’s 50th year of service. Everyone at the council, both past and present, is incredibly proud to serve the borough, its residents and its businesses, and I’m honoured to be leading the council into its 50th year of providing vital support across Hinckley and Bosworth.   

“I hope as many people as possible will come along to celebrate with us and enjoy hours of free live music. Visitors can also expect food stalls and fun for the whole family, with circus skills workshops and crafts also taking place, and there will also be stalls from community groups across the borough – Hinckley PRIDE, Leicestershire Police, Hinckley & District Museum, Community Pet Food Bank, and Friends of Hollycroft Park. So, please pack a picnic and celebrate with us.”
