Local Housing Needs Study – February ‘13
You may well be aware that there is thought to be a general shortage of housing throughout the country. More rural areas can suffer disproportionately because of higher house prices and lower average incomes than urban areas.
In response to this, the real extent of housing needs for local people is being investigated in our Parish. There is particular concern about the lack of suitable housing for people who need to stay in, or return to the village. They may be unable to do so because of those high property prices and rents.
The long term future of the Parish, in terms of population, community and facilities, may be at risk from people having to leave because of a lack of homes. (FAQ sheet).
This Local Housing Needs Survey, which will assist future housing decisions in the Parish, is being carried out in partnership with your Parish Council, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council and the Leicestershire Rural Housing Enabler (LRHE – an independently funded post – who will analyse the information).
Local Housing Needs Survey Questionnaire distributed in the “Spotlight” to each household in the Parish.
Please complete and return the form in the Freepost envelope enclosed by the end of February 2013. Your views on the Parish and future housing requirements will then be analysed and used to guide housing developments.
The information given on individual forms is in strict confidence and will only be seen and retained by the LRHE.
It is important that you complete and return the last part of the form if you or someone in your household need to change housing circumstances in the next five years. This will, of course, include both affordable and open market homes.
When the results of the survey are available then partners will work with Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council and the LRHE to address the matter.
Thank you for your help in taking part in this survey.
